Chinese New Year, also known as Lunar New Year or Spring Festival, is China's most important festival. It is the festival that celebrates the beginning of a new year on the traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar.

The festival was traditionally a time to honor deities as well as ancestors and now it is also a time to feast and to visit family members.

The celebrations last about two weeks in total, taking place from Chinese New Year’s Eve to the Lantern Festival, held on the 15th day of the year. Regional customs and traditions vary widely but share the same theme - ushering out the old year and bringing forth the luck and prosperity of the new one.

Chinese New Year 2022 will fall on Tuesday, February 1st, 2022, beginning a year of the Tiger. China's public holiday will be from January 31 to February 6, 2022.

“As with many winter solstice celebrations, the symbolic darkness of night is banished by the light of fireworks, lanterns, and candles. Man-made paper lanterns are hung by the hundreds in public areas, bringing good luck to the new year.

There are dragon dances, performances, and festival parades with music and acrobatics. The festivities continue for two weeks, finishing with a special lantern festival, which signals the end of the New Year celebration period.

Year of The Tiger

Those born in the Year of the Tiger are said to be courageous leaders brimming with self-confidence and enthusiasm. These strong traits pair particularly well with their notable generosity, natural ability to sympathize, and endless commitment to helping others.

I hope my community enjoys it. ❤️❤️🧧🧧

At my first job as an Art teacher, my principal loved displays. Loved them. Desired them. I honestly think they secretly wanted to be a Musical Theater teacher because they certainly loved glamour and production. They made me who I am and gave me a lot of practice.

Scooter came to school with me for support. Lenin had the day off and enjoyed the quiet.
